The Little Creek Monastery is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Walter as a Senior Fellow as well as additional recognition as a Living Sage. He is the first person to receive either honor from the monastery.

The bestowment of these titles is in recognition of his life’s work, including unsung but significant and relentlessly dedicated contributions to humanity. (Fellows and Sages are not required to be resident or active within the monastery.)

Both titles are in recognition of Mr. Walter’s dedicated lifetime service as a Master Teacher. We include in this recognition acknowledgement of his steadfast contributions to:

  • Developing the human potential through numerous original programs;

  • Offering diverse educational curriculums focused on deeper self awareness and the improvement of the human condition;

  • Comprehensive esoteric studies, including sharing extensive discourses promoting how to cross-relate concepts and intellectual understandings into realized, practical, everyday life applications;

  • Research into human consciousness and awareness, notably by guiding others into deeper, often life-changing, experiences of their own;

  • Developing and sharing a wide variety of deeply beneficial and innovative healing modalities;

  • Teaching the harmonious alignment of the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical bodies in relationship to numerous dimensions of being;

  • Artistry in music including the areas of composition, arranging, teaching, leadership, community outreach and volunteerism;

  • The development of Great River’s highly advanced Jiu Jitsu martial arts training programs.

Scott Walter is Founder and Director of Great River Institute, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Montvale, Virginia. He is also Shihan of Great River Jiu Jitsu, the institute’s resident dojo. Great River Institute focuses on helping individuals develop their potential, in their specific areas of interest, by providing both educational and professional services. Since 2001, Mr. Walter has served as the conductor and music director of the Bedford Community Orchestra.

As a direct descendent of Great River, the Little Creek Monastery incorporates many of Sensei Scott’s teachings.
